Caribou - Odessa

A week or so ago I followed a Facebook advert to download a free cover song by one of my favourite bands - Kula Shaker. The song was a studio-recorded version of a cover that Kula Shaker had played live quite a bit called 'Melody Day' by Caribou. Thought I'd check out Caribou's MySpace and it turns out that he's putting out an album next month called 'Swim' and further exploration unveiled this little number going by the name of 'Odessa.' The song is a real concoction of haunting vocals, metallic percussion, eastern flutes and even the occasional funky guitar strum; all tied together with energetic drum fills and a contagious driving bass line.

Also randomly, apparently BBC 6Music could be entirely funded for £6m a year which is less than Chris Moyles senseless salary of £6.3m!

The Girl Who Played with Fire Trailer

Saw 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" the last week and it was amazing. Have nay read the trilogy of books but the film sequels have already come out at the cinema in Sweden so I youtubed the trailer for the 2nd one, looks equally as a nail-biting.

Reckoner - Twelves Remix

Definitely the highlight of the Twelves' now relatively old Episode II mix. A thumping remix of one of my favourite tracks from In Rainbows. In the words of the Twelves they "like to take songs that don't usually translate well to the dance-floor and beef them up."

Vous aimez? Be sure to have a gander at their myspace and listen to their fantastic remix of Daft Punk's Nightvision. Also track down the Radio 1 Essential mix they did last December as there's even a live reworking of this remix on it!

Shame they do them in basically every other colour apart from ORANGE!

When my current headphones perish I reckon I'll grab a pair of these from Swedish Company - Urban Ears

Why aren't you in F*CKING orange!?

New Logo/Icon in the works

Thought I'd make a nice little squidly to plaster upon this website. It's WIP, gonna animate it and pop it up sometime in the near future.

Stylo - Alex Metric Remix

Stylo from Gorillaz' new album Plastic Beach has easily been one of my favourite songs of this year and although the original is heaps better, this remix is pretty toe tapping when it gets into it.

10 Albums to hear before I kill you

Thought my first blog post had better be something of substance but I couldn't for the life of me think of anything interesting to say. So here is a meagre sprinkling of albums that you may or may not want to ever hear. The Music – The Music
